Job Summary:
This engineering position provides an introductory knowledge level of technical support for the Production and Maintenance Departments of CNP Generation Operations by implementing plant improvements and assisting in problem solving.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Process Monitoring - Assist in the monitoring and reporting on the performance of the plant’s equipment to determine opportunities for improvement or to forestall operational and maintenance costs. Assist in the compiling of process information to assist the Production or Maintenance Departments in decision making on process related issues. Assist in conducting predictive maintenance activities to monitor plant processes.
  • Plant Improvement - Assist in the monitoring and evaluating of plant processes to identify process improvement opportunities. Assist in plant improvement projects through design and preparation of specifications. Coordinate improvement project approval, construction, and commissioning, as well as to assist Supply Chain with the coordination of procurement. Coordinate contractor maintenance and construction projects. Review new technology and evaluate its application to the power plant. Cost variance reporting is required for specific capital and O&M projects, including annual unit outage work assignments. Provide annual plant operating and capital budget information. Responsive to plant emergencies and plant problem resolution. Interface effectively with personnel of other departments to achieve successful results.
  • Administrative - Monitor, secure, and release payments for activities and resources consumed for responsibility area.
  • Functional/Technical Competency Requirements - Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends. Proficient with a computer spreadsheets, word processing, and database software. Ability to create documents, including procedures and instructions. Effective written and verbal skills to communicate with colleagues and customers.

Education:  
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.

 

Experience:
0–2 years. Basic understanding of power plant operations. 
Preferred: Power plant operations experience or equivalent. Experience in coordinating and planning utilization of contractor services. Ability to describe complex processes to plant maintenance and operations personnel. Application and knowledge of statistical process control.
