Job Summary
Plan, design, develop, implement, and direct technical training and development programs which address the need to improve and/or enhance individual performance with a focus on quality and safety.
Essential Functions
-
- Facilitate or support the delivery of technical training programs to ensure employee’s skills are current.
- Delivers training in the classroom, on-the-job, and via WebEx/virtual and analyzes which method meets the needs of a multigenerational workforce with various levels of experience and expertise.
- Provides strategic consulting in all aspects related to training and/or technical training for organization-wide initiatives and projects. Participates in the design, development, and implementation of training programs of a broad organizational scope.
- Develops training materials in accordance with company procedures, regulatory guidelines, and industry “best practices” including training handbooks, job aids, models, multimedia visual aids, computer and web-based tutorials, and standard operating procedures.
- Provides strategic consulting in all aspects related to training and/or technical training to ensure that Operator Qualification training meets or exceeds necessary regulatory and company requirements.
- Facilitates or participates in effective training delivery including analysis, implementation, testing and documentation to ensure employee’s skills are current with technologies city codes, state statutes, administrative rules, manufacturers’ procedures, and company procedures.

- Analyzes applicable safety and regulatory policies and procedures and recommends changes to the training to ensure that these matters are included in the instructional system design process.
- Provides on-going technical resources to field personnel and supervisors to support individual and organizational performance and goals.
- Research and studies advancements in educational technologies and methods; evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs, utilizing appropriate data collection instruments and procedures.
- Recommends and/or implements innovative solutions, modifications, and enhancements to training curricula and instructional programs.
- Annually evaluates the effectiveness of training and development programs, utilizing appropriate data collection instruments and procedures.
- Keep informed of the latest theory, practices, procedures, and techniques in the areas of adult learning for assessing the acquisition of the knowledge and skills taught to assure the educational objectives are met.
Education Description
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Instructional System Design, Occupational Education, Industrial Technology or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Or in lieu of a degree eight (8) years of relevant work experience. Every two (2) years of experience is equivalent to one year of education.
Experience
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in development and/or delivery of technical training programs. Experience in energy delivery, energy production, or similar technical field will suffice.
Physical Requirements

- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift to 20 pounds repetitively.
- Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer effectively and assist in developing training equipment or training devices.
- Able to operate heavy field equipment such as backhoe or forklift to train other employees.
- Able to travel outside of primary work locations including out of town, occasionally overnight or longer, to field locations, remote areas, meetings or conferences.
- Able to exert a minimum of ten pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

- Able to view a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate office equipment such as a telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, laptop, mobile phone, or similar devices.
- Able to communicate clearly verbally or in writing.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle for multiple hour trips.
Working Conditions

- Able to obtain discipline related certification(s) in training and/or utility safety within 12 and up to 24 months.
- Able to perform work in an office environment.
- Able to conduct performance analysis with possible exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, such as moving machinery, energized equipment, gaseous atmospheres, hazardous waste, etc.
- Able to tolerate exposure to all weather conditions and/or work at various times, as necessary.
- Able to work in fast-paced environment with a high-volume workload and frequent, short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines.
- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
- Able to work with occasional exposure to all weather conditions: hot, dirty and/or greasy equipment and noise when at field sites or other settings.
