Job Summary:
Our Utility Quality Supervisor will leverage their knowledge of systems, organizational structure, regulatory requirements and analytical/statistical expertise to manage day-to-day operations of utility quality improvement projects to ensure that company requirements are met.  Projects can range from small (completed individually) to large (requiring oversight to an internal or contracted team to complete).  The ultimate goal is to improve the completeness and accuracy of our records to support regulatory requirements and enable analytics to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work produced by the organization.

In this role, you should be highly analytical with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills which are essential for interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for learning and research.This position provides linkage to the corporate organizations through work management processes, key committees, and project teams. This position supports the evolution of Quality Assurance and Quality Control within Utility Operations including the improvement of current roles and practices, establishment of new processes, and training needs.  

 

Essential Functiions:

  • Supervises the day-to-day work to identify, scope, obtain approvals, and obtain resources to implement projects to improve completeness, accuracy, and availability of records used by Utility Operations.
  • Develops and maintains estimates, budgets, and projections needed for assigned deliverables.
  • Provides status reports to key stakeholders for assigned deliverables.
  • Assist in refining and prioritizing work request (self created and submitted by other business units) to optimize collection and use of data to improve efficiency, improve data quality, improve customer service, and reduce costs.
  • Supervises employees in a matrix work environment across a geographic region.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of structured training programs and conducts work group performance audits to ensure the accuracy of company records and compliance with company policies
  • Reviews process control reports to quickly identify trends and/or errors which could lead to lower data quality standards, completes root cause analyses, develops responses and/or actions necessary to address potential errors.  Provides input to the development of new/modified process control reports as needed.
  • Oversees cost center budgets, verifies invoice accuracy and approves requisitions to support achievement of department objectives.
  • Assist with continued development and use of departmental project management processes.
  • Observes, coaches and improves employee performance by establishing and communicating clear expectations and standards of performance.  
  • Implement/maintain processes to manage department work and metrics to monitor progress.
  • Monitors and evaluates individual and team performance using timely and effective performance discussions. 
  • Builds employee capacity to manage their jobs through appropriate delegation of authority.  
  • Recruits, hires and develops competent staff to create an effective team environment.
  • Serves as an expert resource on corporate systems and related processes.
  • Constant, self-motiviated pursuit of learning systems, organizational structure, processes, data sets, techniques, etc.

 

Education:  
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or related discipline, or 5 years of utility operations experience.

 

Required Experience:
Requires a minimum of three years supervisory experience in the addition to the experience required in lieu of a degree.  

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Use of data visualization software like PowerBI and Tableau
  • Experience with Data Warehousing technology like Oracle Databases, SAP HANA, NoSQL, Hive
  • Utility experience
  • Experience with lean six sigma and management of change practices
  • Use of corporate systems including but not limited to SAP, Service Suite, OnBase, FileNet, ESRI
  • Experience with Quality Control and Quality Assurance protocols and software like MiniTab
  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience managing a department budget
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner
