Summary:
Responsible for driving data science initiatives across the company. This role applies and operationalizes advanced analytical methodologies on large datasets to extract business value. Areas of focus include forecasting, image recognition, clustering, NLP, LLM, optimization, etc. This role is expected to collaborate with business SMEs and communicate results to a non-technical audience.
Essential Functions:
- Create and deploy advanced analytics models using statistics & machine learning methods: classification, sentiment analytics, time-series analysis, clustering, regression, NLP, clustering, etc.
- Apply creative thinking alongside statistical, computer science &/or mathematical knowledge to address business problems.
- Plan and implement experiments to validate findings from observational findings and research.
- Apply data engineering techniques to identify required data sources, wrangling data, engineering new features, and related techniques.
- Use version control and GIT principles to collaborate and maintain a codebase along side peers.
- Working with stakeholders to clearly define a problem’s objective and to decompose a solution into actionable deliverables.
- Craft compelling stories of the insights & outcomes leveraging data visualization tools for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and revenue generation using data-driven insights.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working as a data scientist or in a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with SQL, and relational or schema-less (NoSQL) databases.
- Experience with scripting languages: Python, R, JavaScript, etc.
- Experience with data visualization tools: Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, etc.
- Experience with cloud technologies: Google Cloud Platform, or similar technologies.
- Experience using statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, NLP, and/or predictive modeling.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms such as AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or GCP AI Platform.
- Strong project management skills to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the energy industry is a plus.
