Job Summary

This position provides technical support to the Surveying & Right of Way Division on a variety of tasks in protecting property rights and limiting the Company's liability in easements, rights-of-way, and new capital infrastructure for gas and electric operations.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to receiving and processing research requests, permits, grants, new easements, release of existing easements, licenses and consents to encroach.  Develops and prepares technical reports and documentation. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Performs initial review and evaluation, and process requests, invoicing and payments for new work orders, surveys, third party locates, releases, licenses, grants, field notes and as-built documents.

  • Interacts with other departments on surveying and land-related matters where practical and within the limits of knowledge and training.
  • Provides initial customer or property contact with regard to surveying and rights-of- way.
  • Performs field inspections and collects information for consents to encroach, licenses, grants, trespassing and unauthorized use cases.
  • Performs administrative activities required to assist supervisors, engineers, surveyors and agents.
  • Maintains department records regarding work assignments.  This includes maintenance of computer database(s); work order tracking; review of maps, plats and drawings for adequate easements prior to recordation; preparation of easement documents; basic research of land title records; preparation of work schedules for survey field crews; proofreading and notarizing of documents; and preparation of departmental monthly reports of work received and completed. 

 

Education Description

  • Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of English, punctuation, grammar, spelling and basic mathematics (ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate fractions and/or percentages). 

 

Experience

  • Requires basic experience in administrative, civil engineering, surveying or land title level tasks.  GIS or Surveying experience is a plus.

  • Real Estate License and/or International Right of Way Association certification is a plus.
