Job Summary:
Utilize leadership and managerial skills to facilitate the construction, maintenance, customer service and support activities performed by Electric Operations bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit personnel.  Ensure compliance with safety rules, Company policies, and procedures.  Organize, plan, budget, monitor, and control the cost effective use of Company assets and resources.  Promote and facilitate goal setting. Communicate, monitor and ensure progress toward achievement of Department and Company goals. Manage the contracted construction of transmission projects and ensure compliance with Company standards. Install and maintain third-party joint-use PCS facilities located on transmission assets.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, prioritize, schedule, and assign work. Assist crews with field changes as necessary to ensure the safety and efficient performance of the crews. Demonstrate responsibility, attendance, and dependability.
  • Plan, budget, monitor, control, and report on expenditures in area of responsibility.
  • Communicate, monitor, and promote corporate and departmental goals. Coordinate the assimilation, communication and promote employee buy-in of departmental goals. Monitor and report on goal progress.
  • Manage the performance of assigned personnel to include but not limited to conducting performance evaluations, administer constructive discipline, provide employee guidance, counsel, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Identify and monitor training and development of employees within budget, time, and facilitation controls.
  • Ensure that safety meetings are effective and held regularly.
  • Perform safety, environmental, and quality inspections of job sites, maintaining a regular presence on the site, visually monitoring work progress when necessary.
  • Monitor manual and electronic work management records. Analyze work processes/procedures to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Assist supervisors with effective and efficient procurement, distribution, use of materials and equipment, and monitoring of records.
  • Evaluate new materials and equipment. Assist in research and development of new technologies.
  • Maintain basic knowledge and serve as initial resource of Company, safety, and departmental policies, employee benefits, departmental procedures, service standards and Union contract(s).
  • Set the standard for providing effective customer service while representing the Company in various customer and client service capacities.
  • Prepare oral and written reports and presentations as required.
  • Maintain proper working relationships with all levels of the organization.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Will consider relevant job related CenterPoint Energy or industry-related experience in lieu of degree

 

Experience:

  • Seven (7) years of experience in functional area is required including two (2) years as an Operations Supervisor.
  • Prior experience leading a team preferred.
