Your Mission (Essential Functions)
You will lead category management, sourcing directions, and supplier relationships across CenterPoint's extensive Electric and Gas Operations. Your wheelhouse includes vital utility asset categories like Meters & Regulators, Gas/Electric Distribution materials, Gas Pipe Support, MRO, and Safety Supplies.
• Drive Strategic Sourcing: Mastermind and execute end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize millions in corporate spend and perfectly align with corporate goals.
• Negotiate Heavyweight Contracts: Own the proposal, bidding, and contract lifecycles—including master and blanket agreements—to ruthlessly mitigate risk and secure unparalleled supply chain reliability.
• Innovate with Data: Build and implement cutting-edge evaluation tools (think scorecards, should-cost models, and Total Cost of Ownership metrics) to drive predictive, data-backed procurement choices.
• Partner with Key Stakeholders: Collaborating closely with internal technical experts and executives to build supply strategies resilient enough for day-to-day scaling, growth initiatives, and emergency disaster response.
• Champion Governance & Process: Lead the charge on internal controls, update supplier portals, and continuously refine our Supply Chain standard work instructions.
Education Description
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a supply chain or business discipline.
Who You Are and What You Bring (Requirements)
• Experience: 6+ years of rock-solid procurement and supply chain experience under your belt.
• System Savvy: Deep, functional knowledge of modern ERP systems design and capabilities.
• Negotiation & Tactical Mastery: A proven track record of leading high-stakes contract negotiations and end-to-end tactical procurement strategies.
• Leadership DNA: Demonstrated background in advanced procurement analytics, end-to-end process management, and a genuine passion for staff development.
