Job Summary

Provide engineering and technical support associated with managing energy efficiency (EE) programs, project evaluation, inspections, regulatory filings, and research new EE measures for use in programs.  Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical expertise and facilitate EE program participation.

 

Essential Functions

  • Review EE  technical specifications for compliance to EE program and regulatory rules
  • Act as a technical advisor to EE program managers, staff consultants, and outside contractors on technical reviews and project inspections
  • Provide technical expertise to customers to support identification of energy savings opportunities, application review and data collection
  • Perform engineering inspections of EE projects on an as needed basis
  • Review measurement and verification plans for EE projects
  • Coordinate multiple projects involving customers, contractors, and internal departments
  • Create, document, and run technical models that ensure EE programs meet regulatory guidelines and requirements
  • Partner with internal and external resources to gather data for regulatory filings and key metrics
  • Develop and maintain calculation files used in EE measure calculations
  • Develop and implement inspection and evaluation strategies
  • Work with measurement and verification provider and implement their M&V suggestions
  • Help develop business cases and technical requirements for emerging technologies and energy efficiency measures
  • Develop new calculation methodologies and case studies to be used in EE savings calculations
  • Ensure that EE program reporting, evaluation, measurement and verification withstands the highest level of scrutiny 

 

Education Description

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Archectural Engineering from an accredited college or university

 

Experience

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of technical experience related to the conservation of energy and building science

 

Competencies 

  • Knowledge of building science theory
  • Able to read and critique measurement and verification plans following the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP)
  • Able to differenate between the most common utility cost ratio (UCT) tests
  • Able to interpret and analyze mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings
  • Knowledge in VBA, Python, R, or Matlab a plus
  • Knowledge in energy modeling software (eQUEST, TRACE, HAP, REM/RATE) a plus
  • Able to use mathematics, including trigonometry and calculus, to complete complex engineering design calculations and relate mathematical solutions to actual energy efficiency situations
  • Uphold fiduciary responsibility in everyday decisions
  • Able to prioritize and schedule tasks, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate good organizational skills
  • Able to manage time effectively, handle multiple tasks and priorities, operate under general direction, develop own work methods as required yet follow standard procedures, and determine when management is to be consulted on unusual situations
  • Able to communicate technical information in an understandable and professional manner in written and verbal formAble to use personal computer software proficiently, such as those for word processing, spreadsheets, database managers, presentations, and electronic mail
  • Able to provide and maintain a valid state driver's license and safe driving record
  • Able to comply with all company driver safety policy requirements
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all the required training courses and do so timely
  • Able to demonstrate respect for individuals, adhere to Company’s values and business practices and do both consistently
