Job Summary

The Emergency Operations Coordinator will serve as the primary lead for day-to-day operations of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), ensuring technical readiness and operational continuity in a mission-critical, high-impact environment. In this role, you’ll work closely with a small, dedicated team, collaborating across departments and supporting broader program priorities as needed. Flexibility is essential, as the work often shifts quickly to meet evolving demands. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong operational background - such as military junior NCOs, first responders, or disaster response specialists - who bring tactical and technical acumen and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments. The role offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and organizational stability, and values technical expertise, operational experience, and outside-the-box thinking.

Essential Functions

  • Program Management: Maintain emergency preparedness and response programs, plans, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.

  • Incident Support: Respond to and support emergency activations, serving as a key technical and operational resource during incidents.

  • Lead EOC Operations: Oversee daily functionality of the Emergency Operations Center(s), including IT and audiovisual systems, readiness checks, and coordination during activations.

  • Technical Oversight: Manage and troubleshoot EOC technology platforms, ensuring seamless integration of IT/AV systems for incident management.

  • Training & Exercises: Conduct, facilitate, and participate in drills, exercises, and training programs to ensure operational readiness and compliance. May also be responsible for developing and delivering training in support of the larger training and exercise program.

  • Data & Assessments: Perform assessments and gather data to support Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment processes.

  • Roster Accuracy: Ensure the Employee Storm Roster (ESR) is accurate and ready for immediate activation at all times.

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead After Action Reviews and implement improvements to plans and procedures.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead meetings and deliver briefings to internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Incident Command System (ICS) principles; FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications preferred.

  • Strong technical aptitude with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technologies quickly.

  • Experience with IT/AV systems in operational environments.

  • Ability to analyze information under emergency conditions and make sound decisions.

  • Maintains composure and sound judgment under pressure, ensuring effective decision-making during high-stakes situations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively across all organizational levels.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing demands, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with tact and diplomacy under pressure.

  • Comfortable operating in a high-paced environment with competing priorities.

  • High level of availability outside routine work hours to respond to incidents.

Preferred Background

  • 8 -10 years of experience in military operations (junior NCO level or equivalent), first responder roles, or disaster response.

  • Prior experience in an operations center environment (EOC or similar technical operations center).

  • Field experience combined with technical and administrative capabilities.

  • Exposure to leadership or other critical decision-making responsibilities.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Emergency Management certifications are not required, but ICS familiarity is essential.
