Job Summary

CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Lead Assistant to join our Distribution Control Operations Team, located in Houston, TX.

You will have the ability to: provide administrative and clerical support for all activities within Distribution Control Operations for supervisors, Manager and Director and staff for all secretarial, clerical, time entry, and ad-hoc reporting needs for the Department.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for management and reconciliation of controllers’ time records, data entry, overtime reporting, and FMLA time corrections. This work is very time sensitive and requires detailed analysis and understanding of bargaining unit rules and labor scheduling. Includes tracking and reporting of attendance, time records and overtime.
  •  Manages multiple responsibilities in a dynamic and demanding work environment while maintaining a positive professional presence.
  •  Orders supplies and equipment for two office locations.
  • Orders supplies including coffee bar supplies, phones, laptops etc.
  • Manages and maintains confidential information, records, reports and personnel files.
  • Keep record of vacation/holiday balances and work schedules for Distribution Control
  • Process union and supervisor shift changes and enter SAP.
  • Interface with facilities building maintenance personnel as needed to ensure repair and maintenance of equipment for two office locations.
  • Acts as department liaison with outside vendors for printer equipment, toll road tags, vehicle oil changes and tags, coffee machines, water and ice machines, cell phones etc.
  •  Process credit card expenses and mileage reimbursements in One Pay for supervisors, manager, and controllers.

Education Description

Requires a High School diploma or GED. Experience with union payroll processing required.

Experience

  • Requires 4 years of secretarial or administrative requiring regular exercise of initiative, use of personal judgment and discretion without immediate supervision, attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Requires proficient knowledge of software (including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and e-mail) and basic knowledge of mainframe systems.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, telephone etiquette and customer service.
