Job Summary
Assist in the coordination and assessment of the implementation of CenterPoint Energy's Internal Compliance Program for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards. This role will support both Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Operations and Planning (O&P) compliance requirements applicable to CenterPoint Energy's electric transmission system, and provide analytical support for cross-disciplinary emerging transmission NERC initiatives
Essential Functions
- Learn about and provide assistance in understanding the requirements and what evidence is sufficient to demonstrate compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards.
- Review compliance documentation from the responsible operations departments and provide guidance on document development and maintenance.
- Maintain audit readiness through review of Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAWs) and evidence, internal controls testing of the Company’s compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards, documenting and evaluating internal controls.
- Assist in facilitating the Company’s Corrective Action Process for potential issues by coordinating with various operations departments, Legal, and management.
- Collaborate with various Company departments and Legal to coordinate the Company’s response to formal compliance audits, spot checks, certification reviews, self-logs, self-reports, system event reporting, requests for information (RFIs), and compliance and enforcement investigations.
- Participate in the NERC Standards Development process, including coordination with various operations department Subject Matter Experts and management, evaluation of potential impact to operations and current compliance activities, comments preparation, and voting recommendations on various NERC projects.
- Coordinate with applicable departments and Subject Matter Experts to implement new or revised NERC Reliability Standards, including process and procedure development, and documentation review and verification.
- Participate in a wide range of compliance and policy activities in various arenas including Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and NERC committees, Standard Drafting Teams, and other internal and external committees, conferences, or working groups.
Provide analysis and support for emerging transmission initiatives
Education Description
Bachelor’s degree required
- Preferably in engineering, business, risk management, political science, public policy, or related field of study
- Will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degree candidates
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in one or more of the above disciplines. Internship, co-op, and other professional experience will be considered for this requirement.
- Knowledge and experience in electric utility operations, regulatory compliance and/or policy or procedural development of a similar nature.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Analytical skills with experience in critical thinking, problem solving, and project management.
