Job Summary:

Proficient in processing customer applications for Residential Distributed Generation (DG) utilizing a custom-built customer interface portal. Understand, read, and approve/reject electric one-lines, metering and relaying drawings, equipment specifications submitted as part of the DG applications.  Solid project management skills to coordinate the scope, schedule of a DG project within several internal stakeholder teams. Specify requirements for DER Interconnection to the CNP Distribution system. These requirements cover distribution circuit modifications, DER power system protection schemes, and protective relaying.  Serve as an SME on various internal and external working groups regarding DER Integration.

 

Essential Functions:

•Disseminate information of CNP standards & specifications and provide technical assistance to the service centers and customers.

•With assistance, utilize engineering tools to identify potential reliability issues, equipment failures, report findings and form recommendations for solutions.

•Perform engineering studies to analyze and respond to engineering documents submittals on DG applications.

•Gather information and compile data from multiple sources (SAP, GIS, Key Accounts, Service Centers) to construct electrical models and perform other analysis.

•Aid other engineering groups with investigations of voltage issues/complaints.

•Support service center investigation in circuit reliability.

•Develop standards on reliability practices and investigations.

•Generate various engineering reports.

•Field inspections to identify operational compliance with specifications/standards.

•Various teams/task forces/special projects.

•With assistance, perform engineering studies to analyze and respond to requests, special studies, etc.

•Perform a variety of engineering tasks such as analyze system performance using monitoring equipment and other engineering tools to identify issues and develop solutions.

•Interact with engineering firms and contractors representing DER customers. Obtain all pertinent electrical data of DER generating facilities for use in modeling DER performance on the CNP system.

•Provide electrical data and machine characteristics to Engineering Planning and System Protection to determine steady state and dynamic response of DER facility while interconnected to the CNP Distribution System.

•Determine all system modifications and costs associated with DER Interconnection.        

•Communicate all interconnection requirements and associated costs to DER customer.

•Review electrical one-line diagrams of DER customer facilities.  Provide feedback to customer as needed.

•With assistance, review DER Customer Proposed Protective Relay setpoints to ensure compliance with all applicable specifications and standards.

•Interact with engineering firms and construction contractors providing technical assistance on the commissioning of new equipment interconnected in parallel with the Distribution System.

•With assistance, analyze fault events and sequence of event reports with data obtained from microprocessor relays.

 

Education: 

Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university. 

 

Experience:

Requires zero (0) years of electric design experience that includes analysis of electric data and application of technical standards.
