JOB SUMMARY:
Leads and manages a department responsible for developing capital plans, analysis, and presentations. Manages the companies IN/OH gas capital program planning efforts to deliver measurable results in budgeting/forecasting, infrastrure/asset management , and assist with capital allocation. Collaborates with several key stakeholder including but not limited to engineering, gas operations, gas capital delivery, storage, plant accounting, and regulatory. Has the responsibility to optimize capital spending and infrastructure investment plan by driving a culture of continuous improvement and project management to develop efficiencies. Establish joint accountability and shared metrics with these key business partners to ensure alignment between organizations.
Essential Functions:
- Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders in Engineering, Financial Planning, and Work Order Management.
- Facilitate annual capital planning process, monthly forecast processes, standardizing information, and analyzing capital projections submitted by engineering
- Ensure that the overall capital plans align with infrastructure investments with risk reduction, stakeholder commitments, and financial targets.
- Lead team by providing overall guidance in preparation and presentation of plans and deliverables that achieve: work and investment prioritization, asset maintenance and replacement strategies, timely and accurate budget and performance metrics, variance explanations, risk identifications, data accuracy.
- Collaborate with asset owners, finance, and engineering managers to maintain capital approval and practices.
- Coordinates the preparation of documents in support of rate case activities, including third party audits.
- Provide work order aging metrics to operations and to leadership to optimize the construction life cycle
- Drive continuous improvement mindset and develop innovative processes, procedures and/or tools to support analysis of business performance.
- Seek and identify capitalization opportunities for new technologies and processes.
- Identify any areas in need of policy and practice convergence among business units and determine the most appropriate company-wide strategy.
Education:
Requires a bachelor's degree with a focus in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or Project Management.
Experience:
Require a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in finance, financial or work planning, and/or scheduling.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the utility industry is preferred.
Experience in management/supervision is preferred.
Experience with SAP and PowerPlant is preferred.
