Summary:
Effectively manage the engineering, operation and maintenance of CenterPoint Energy's Underground Gas Storage Facilities and propane-air production and storage facilities. Insure plants meets safety, reliability, regulatory, and financial requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Use knowledge of underground gas storage, natural gas and propane air plant processes and equipment to determine appropriate management actions need to maintain safety, code compliance, high reliability and availability of the facilities.
- Plan, organize and direct the operation and maintenance of multiple plant sites to ensure the most effective return on the assets.
- Develop and manage operations and maintenance processes and procedure to meet all safety and regulatory requirements for the UGS and LPG production and storage facilities, including requirements of DOT 192, NFPA 59, API 1171, MN Office of Pipeline Safety, Indiana Regulatory Commission, Indiana Division of Oil and Gas and other CenterPoint Energy, city and/or state requirements.
- Manage CenterPoint Energy’s relationships with the facility’s regulators including MN Office of Pipeline Safety, Indiana Regulatory Commission, local fire, police, Indiana DNR and community officials and adjacent neighbors.
- Initiate plans and processes which minimize the plant’s operations and maintenance costs and meet all safety and reliability requirements
- Plan, promote, design, engineer and implement capital improvements as required to meet safety, regulatory and reliability and continuous improvement needs of the facilities.
- Hire and manage consultants as required.
- Manage the preparation of bids specifications and selection of contractors for as required for underground storage & peak shaving projects. Manage contracts and contractor performance.
- Supervise, coach and improve employee and work group performance by establishing, communicating, and monitoring clear expectations of performance. Manage employees on rotating shift schedule, direct schedule changes as needed to meet production operations.
- Develop budgets and manage spending against station budgets.
- Prepare and update Station Operation & Maintenance, Security, and Emergency manuals and procedures.
- Assume call out duties as scheduled in the Peak Shaving Department and respond to emergency situations as needed. Provide backup as needed to other Peak Shaving Department Facilities.
- Recruit and hire competent staff, develop new training programs as required to meet changing equipment or code requirements. Direct and document classroom and on the job training and assessment of employees as needed to meet operational and regulatory needs.
Education:
BS Degree
Experience:
Seven years professional technical experience in natural gas or equivalent industry.
Experience with natural gas compression operation and construction
Demonstrated experience working with codes and standards
Two years of supervisory experience.
Experience working with process equipment.
Project management experience.
Experience with Natural Gas well workovers.
Experience with well logging and integrity management.
