Job Summary:

Assess, develop, and implement a systematic approach of coordinating activities and practices to manage CenterPoint Energy Indiana South (CenterPoint-IN) assets and asset systems, their associated performance, and risk and expenditures optimally and sustainably over the life cycle of those assets.  Successfully manage, with minimal supervision, a wide range of asset strategy, policy, and program issues in various arenas including program and project development activities, cost/benefit analyses, strategic planning, and program management in conjunction with the operational areas of CenterPoint-IN. Make recommendations regarding all aspects of asset management based on business needs, profitability, and business risk challenges in an organized and orderly fashion.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain data collection, reporting systems, and engineering drawings on corporate mainframe and computer-based systems with a focus on improving the efficiency of work processes and keeping data systems current.
  • Evaluate, develop, maintain, and manage hardware and reporting systems in relation to inspection data, operations data, material and labor estimating, line statistical data, reliability data, lightning data, line fault locating, mapping, the distribution and transmission line inspection & rehabilitation program, and the distribution and transmission vegetation management program.
  • Use SAP to lookup work orders, such as completion date, cost, and other relevant information.
  • Provide data analytics & statistical reports to management using Excel macros or similar tools.
  • Perform database development & enhancement with SQL programming.
  • Interface with inspectors, construction personnel, engineers, attorneys, and management regarding inspection, rehabilitation, reliability, and R&D issues.
  • Coordinate and/or perform distribution and transmission line inspection activities including job scheduling, field inspection, data collection, work order preparation, and quality assurance.
  • Manage time effectively, handle multiple tasks and priorities, operate under general direction, develop own work methods as required yet follow standard procedures and determine when management is to be consulted on unusual situations.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering, construction personnel, customers, and others in written and verbal form

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience that includes knowledge of data structure analysis and performing engineering calculations and design
  • Programming experience or class in a language such as Python, SQL, VBA, or Java.
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Knime, SAP, or BigQuery
  • Experience with databases such as Oracle or Microsoft.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge and use of PowerBI or Tableau data visualization software
  • Experience working with machine learning, statistical techniques, and algorithms
  • Able to work well with both technical and non-technical personnel to gather and exchange information, resolve issues, plan activities and meet or exceed objectives.
  • Read, understand, and apply industry terms for electric utility reliability.
  • Interpret, analyze and produce electrical models, drawings and technical documents.
