Job Description
The position is for a Trouble Specialist working out of the Evansville Wagner Operations office. This position must be filled by a journeyman lineman or lineman with a completed accredited 4 year lineman apprenticeship. The position is full time, includes working a rotating 12 hour shift and in all types of weather conditions.
Essential Duties
Position will work by themselves troubleshooting all electric distribution, transmission, and substation facilities within the Evansville territory along with street light maintenance requirements. Driving and operating a bucket truck, workorder completion on laptop, forward facing customer interaction and communication, and open communication with management are essential. Emergency response responsibilities when not on normal shift will be required.
Experience
- A high school diploma or GED. High school level math or electrical training desired.
- Journeyman Lineman or accredited 4 year lineman apprenticeship completion
- Must develop and maintain an adequate level of computer skills for the position
- Must own, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
- Must be able to climb steel, lattice and wood structures
- Must work extra and irregular hours as the utility needs may require, and willing to work under unusual or special working conditions; storms, extreme temperatures and winds, darkness, etc
- Must live within 30 mile radius of assigned headquarter, or relocate to that area at their own expense
- Successfully complete all required testing and background checks
Physical Requirements
The job duties of a Trouble Specialist include but are not limited to, lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force. Job duties require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.
Salary/Benefits
This is a unionized position. The starting salary will be based upon the conditions of the Wage Schedule between Centerpoint Energy and IBEW Local 702.
