Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations Governance & Compliance, the Director, Work Records Integrity & Closeout (WRIC) provides strategic leadership and oversight of the company’s work records integrity and work order closeout function. This role is accountable for ensuring utility work activities are supported by complete, accurate, auditable, and closure-ready records that satisfy regulatory, financial, asset management, and operational requirements.

The Director leads the development and execution of governance processes, controls, performance management practices, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen documentation quality, records integrity, and closeout effectiveness across electric and gas operations. This position partners closely with Operations, GIS, Finance, Asset Management, Compliance, and Quality Management organizations to ensure accurate asset records, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for work records integrity and work order closeout activities across utility operations.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise standards, controls, and governance processes to ensure work records are complete, accurate, consistent, and auditable.
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and performance metrics supporting records integrity and closeout excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, documentation quality, and compliance performance.

Work Order Closeout Management

  • Lead work order closeout operations supporting gas and electric utility functions across CenterPoint Energy operating jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely closure of work orders and associated documentation in accordance with established service level expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor backlog management, productivity, throughput, and operational performance to achieve business objectives.
  • Validate closeout readiness and ensure required documentation, records, and supporting evidence are complete prior to work order closure.

Records Integrity & Compliance

  • Ensure work records support accurate asset accounting, GIS mapping, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and asset management requirements.
  • Identify and address documentation deficiencies, process gaps, and recurring quality issues impacting records integrity.
  • Maintain auditable records and supporting evidence necessary for regulatory reviews, internal controls, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities and monitor compliance with established records management standards.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Operations, GIS, Finance, Asset Management, Compliance, Engineering, and Quality Management organizations to improve documentation quality at the source.
  • Influence upstream work execution processes to reduce record quality issues and improve closeout readiness.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to prioritize corrective actions and process improvements that enhance operational performance and data integrity.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of managers and employees responsible for work records integrity and closeout operations.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures that support business objectives.
  • Build organizational capability through talent development, coaching, succession planning, and employee engagement.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-performing work environment aligned with CenterPoint Energy values.

Education Description

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, Operations Management, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Ten (10)+ years of progressive experience in utility operations, asset management, records management, compliance, work management, operational governance, or related areas.
  • Five (5)+ years of leadership experience managing teams, programs, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing governance frameworks, performance metrics, and process improvement programs.
  • Strong understanding of utility work management processes, asset records, regulatory requirements, and financial controls.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Engineering, or related field).
  • Experience supporting electric and gas utility operations.
  • Knowledge of GIS, work management systems, asset management systems, and utility accounting practices.
  • Experience leading large-scale operational transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification.
