Job Summary

You will receive training to execute responsibilities and be supervised thereafter.  Serve as single-point-of-contact for customer distribution projects, which includes the customer account relationship, project management from inception to completion and distribution system development, reliability and maintenance. Analyze, designs and prepares structural and electrical specifications and work orders. Align resources to meet customer service commitments and leads teams to address customer needs. 

Essential Functions

  • Work with multiple departments, customers, municipalities, outside consulting firms, and other utilities to gather information in order to execute projects accurately and in a timely manner
  • Work with elected officials and employees of city, county and state entities to effectively service customers
  • Gather project information, prepares estimates, and analyzes data and designs electrical and/or gas distribution facilities
  • Represents the company in service extension negotiations related to service locations
  • Ensure customer obligations are met, negotiates and secures payment of projects, researches easement rights, and maintains completion of construction within specified timeframes
  • Identify, evaluates, and if necessary, corrects pre-existing issues related to compliance with governmental regulations, code violations, and CenterPoint Energy standards.  Corrective action may require negotiation with customers related to safety, cost, and legal responsibility
  • Review facilities for compliance with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), state, city and county governmental ordinances and CenterPoint Energy standards.  Also, must have working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Perform field inspections as needed for final project approval, foreign cable attachments, customer installed facilities, and miscellaneous customer requests
  • Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy’s Emergency Operation Plan (EOP), will include extended working hours and travel to other CenterPoint Energy Distribution Centers

Education Description

  • Currently pursuing a 
  • Degree with a concentration in construction science, construction management, engineering technology, business, or marketing. 
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Experience

  • Valid Driver's license
  • Able to work a varied schedule with projects and deadlines requiring the ability to meet changing demands
