As the Senior Engineer, you will a
pply engineering principles in the System Planning group to provide natural gas distribution and transmission system analysis, recommendations, design, and planning services for large new business, system improvement, facility relocation, complex, or compliance projects companywide to maintain system safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Specifically, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Has knowledge and understanding of the industry rules and regulations and engineering standards.

• Under general supervision, prioritizes and manages multiple assignments and projects concurrently and to timely completion.

• Provides mentoring and indirect supervision of others when direct teamwork is required.

• Provides system analysis support, collaboration, and effective communication with internal/external customers and supporting departments to facilitate project planning.

• Prepares economic justification (concise, factual, and conclusive statements of the purpose, merits, and necessity) for each project proposed to assist management with evaluation of capital investment.

• Acquires and organizes system operational, performance, and maintenance data necessary to perform analysis and provide recommendations on proposed or actual modifications including uprates, retirements, expansions, line lowering, regulator station design, etc.

• Manages moderately complex projects through completion to achieve budgetary and business objectives.

• Continuously develops, maintains, and improves system network models and master plans.

• Performs engineering calculations, system analysis, cost feasibility studies, design reviews, complex model scenarios, and coordination of project recommendations between key stakeholders. 

• Analyzes load, pressure requirements, growth needs, equipment needs, seasonal requirements, system capacity, system constraints, feasibility of various options, event impacts, and other variables.

• Monitors and maintains system reliability with a 5-10 year outlook as part of long range planning.

•  Assesses and where necessary implements new software tools and updates and other industry advancements to enhance system planning capabilities.

•  Assists in evaluation of system operations and troubleshoots problems in real time to support short term critical operational decisions.

• Works flexible hours for emergency response and when required to meet critical deadlines.

• Familiar with Synergi and GIS and assists in providing software/technical support for departmental programs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Requires a bachelor's of science degree in engineering from an accredited college.
• 
Requires a minimum of five years experience in utility design or related project construction design
• Requires a Professional Engineer License.

Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:
• Natural Gas utility experience preferred.
• Experience with gas modeling.

• GIS or Synergi experience.
