Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly talented and motivated student to join our team as an intern within CenterPoint Energy’s Procurement Organization. The intern will work with various members of the Procurement Organization, operations & management teams to learn hands-on about our business and the utility industry. Under the supervision of the Procurement Manager, the intern will be responsible for learning and engaging in the associated duties and activities within the Source-to-Pay functions

Essential Functions

  • Perform SAP transactions and other duties as required by CNP Procurement personnel.
  • Assist in the procurement of standard materials and services from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality, reliability, and other business requirements.
  • Execute RFX activities in conjunction with ongoing bid events.
  • Extract, sort, format, interpret and communicate out various data analyses.
  • Collaborate with the other Summer Intern(s) on a group project that creates a positive impact on the Procurement organization and ultimately CenterPoint Energy.
  • Develop a working knowledge of associated procurement systems and processes.

Education Description

  • Currently a Junior attaining Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years education towards one of the following majors: Supply Chain, Finance, Materials Management, Project Management, Business, Logistics, or other related fields

Experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint capabilities.
