Job Summary

You will perform tasks related to shipping, receiving and delivering materials and equipment, and maintaining inventory control and records. Successful candidate must have basic math and computer skills and be able to acquire and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no restrictions within 60 days of hire.

Essential Functions

  • Receives and unloads freight both manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Checks for damaged goods.
  • Verifies quantity and quality of order and items received with purchase order.
  • Wraps, packages, and ships supplies.
  • Delivers and retrieves supplies to and from work or storage areas.
  • Tags and issues supplies.
  • Stocks shelves and rotates inventory.
  • May receive, store, and ship flammable, explosive or caustic and hazardous material.
  • Maintains proper storeroom housekeeping, equipment and vehicles. 
  • Participates in physical inventories and material transactions of all storeroom locations.
  • Maintains inventory records.
  • Operates a personal computer and a bar code reader to access and enter correct information.
  • Answers phones and provides information using good customer service skills.
  • May provide advice regarding supplies or property including price and availability.
  • May prepare damage claims for supervisor's review and signature; may coordinate disposal of surplus property and manage records retention.
     

Education Description

  • High School degree is required.

Experience

  • Experience in shipping and receiving, and/or material handling is preferred.
  • Successful candidate must have basic math and computer skills and be able to acquire and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no restrictions within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift (certification required) and various power and hand tools; walk, stand, bend and stoop continuously throughout the workday; work in dusty and dirty conditions; work outdoors in inclement weather; lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds; and communicate effectively via phone, email and other equipment.
  • The position requires the willingness to follow instruction, work as part of a team, comply with all safety policies and procedures, maintain a satisfactory attendance record, and to be available to work overtime, including scheduled and emergency, as needed.
